Meet Christian Hazelwood and Victor Peretz, co-owners of Localinpty, a community-focused tour company in Panama that explores the “less touristy” sides of Panama City and the San Blas Islands. Through tourism, they support communities by providing various educational programs, including yoga, meditation, sports, dance, cultural experiences, language programs, and photography. Their mission is to help underprivileged children in Panama through their tourism business by providing them with educational opportunities through language programs and game cards.


Alvin Yapp

Meet Alvin Yapp, founder and owner of the Intan, an award-winning home museum in Singapore dedicated to preserving the unique Peranakan culture, a hybrid of Chinese, local Malay, and European influences. As one of our Impact Partners on the Meaningful Travel Map, the Intan showcases how locally-led businesses can promote cultural heritage, support community initiatives, and offer responsible travel experiences.


Rachel Backshell

Meet Rachel Backshell, assistant director at the Scottish Crannog Centre, an open-air museum in Perthshire, Scotland, with a mission to care for and make accessible the finds of Scottish Crannog dwellers for the benefit, enjoyment, education, and inspiration of all. They believe the best way to connect to these Crannog communities of the past is to be the Crannog Community of today, demonstrating how the crannog dwellers stories are a defining thread in the fabric of Scotland's rich heritage.
